About Eden’s Hope

Eden’s Hope is an organization that serves children, women and children in unplanned pregnancies, and those who are at risk of becoming street kids to ensure they have a safe place to learn, grow, and be discipled. This is achieved through school ministry, a kid’s program, bible studies, and a crisis pregnancy center.

Meet the Founder

Haley Reed, Founder/CEO

Little Girl Born for the Nations

Haley was born and raised in Columbus, Georgia with her parents and two brothers. She was first introduced to international missions when her dad brought her back an outfit from Kenya in 1999. This brought excitement and curiosity to a young 5-year-old girl. Little did she know, God would continue to water that seed that was planted 13 years prior and bring it to fruit in July of 2013 when she embarked on her first mission trip to Calcutta, India.

Where it All Began

After traveling the world, Haley led her first mission team from Eden Church to Kenya in 2017. That trip marked the beginning of a life-changing journey. Since then, she has returned 14 times, experiencing the lost and vulnerable each time. In those moments, she felt the compassion of Jesus prompting her to do something.

It wasn’t until March of 2023, while walking the streets of Kenya, that God made His calling unmistakably clear. As she reflected on every trip, every experience, every job, and all the details in between, she could see God's hand in every step and His hear for His people. He had been preparing her for this: to leave behind her home, family, and friends, and to bring the hope of the Gospel to the lost and vulnerable.

About Kenya

  • Location & Geography

Kenya is situated on the eastern coast of Africa, bordered by the Indian Ocean to the southeast. The country's diverse geography includes the Great Rift Valley, expansive savannahs, and the iconic Mount Kenya, Africa's second-highest peak. Rich in biodiversity, Kenya is home to renowned national parks such as the Maasai Mara and Amboseli, offering breathtaking landscapes and a unique blend of ecosystems.

  • Lifestyle & Language

Kenya's lifestyle reflects a harmonious mix of traditional and modern influences. The majority of Kenyans lead an agrarian lifestyle, especially in rural areas, while urban centers like Nairobi embrace a cosmopolitan way of life. English and Swahili are the official languages, with Swahili serving as a unifying language across ethnic groups. This linguistic diversity contributes to Kenya's cultural tapestry.

  • Food & Culture

Kenya is home to numerous ethnic groups, each with its own distinct language, culture, and traditions. The major ethnic groups include the Kikuyu, Luhya, Luo, Maasai, and others. This diversity contributes to the richness of Kenyan culture. Staple foods include ugali (maize porridge), nyama choma (grilled meat), and sukuma wiki (collard greens). Tea is a cultural staple, with Kenya renowned for its high-quality tea production.

  • Religion

Kenya is religiously diverse, with Christianity, Islam, and indigenous beliefs being the major faiths. Christianity, including various denominations, is the predominant religion, followed by Islam, especially in regions bordering Muslim-majority nations.

  • Demography Around Children & Teen Pregnancies

Kenya's population has been steadily growing, and it is one of the most populous countries in Africa. The estimated population is over 50 million people, with a relatively youthful demographic, as a significant percentage of the population is under the age of 25.

Understanding the demography around teen pregnancies and children is crucial for creating targeted interventions that address the root causes of these challenges. By promoting education, healthcare, and community support, Kenya aims to improve the well-being of its youth and create a foundation for a brighter future.
